At Ocean Adventures we have a simple approach to sailing. We simply offer great sailing on great yachts at reasonable prices. We offer a relaxed and friendly environment in whch to improve your sailing skills or just enjoy a great day out. You will be encouraged to play a full part in all aspects of sailing the yacht including taking the helm. However, you are of course free to simply relax and enjoy the view should you so wish.
Many people who sail with us have undertaken courses as part of the RYA cruising scheme. Given the intensive nature of these courses sailing with us provides an excellent environment to further develop skills in a more relaxed environment. Our sailing is also suitable for complete beginners.
We have two bases for our sailing, Hythe and Liverpool - however currently we are only sailing from Hythe
Solent Sailing from Hythe Marina
Our Solent sailing is provided on board our 42ft cruising yacht, Quintessence . We are based in Hythe on Southampton Water providing easy access to the sheltered waters of the Solent. Cowes, the home of yacht racing, is only a short sail away.
Specific itineraries are dependent on conditions such as tide and weather but typically, to the west we often explore the Beaulieu River or continue to the bustling town of Lymington, close to the New Forest. Heading east takes us to Portsmouth or the sheltered waters of Chichester Harbour.
If you are staying with us overnight we will either stay in our home port of Hythe or Cowes on the Isle of Wight. You will usually enjoy the privacy of your own private cabin and full marina facilities will be available wherever we stay overnight. We normally dine out in the evening at a local pub or yacht club. Alternatively your skipper will be happy to advise you of the best local restaurants.
Whether you are sailing with us for the day or longer, each day's sailing will consist of a full 7 to 8 hours sailing on the Solent. We normally cover approximately 40 nautical miles allowing all on board the chance to experience helming, sail trimming and close quarter boat handling. Lunch is usually taken on board in a local habour or anchorage.
Our itineraries are flexible and can change due to tide and weather conditions. To get a more precise itinerary for a particular date call James on
